Terms: Spar
time to stab each other

A short breath huffed from the ghost’s lungs as he regarded the shorter elf who stood before him now. Unspoken questions kept from sparking against his tongue over what exactly the point to all of this was in the long run. For while it had been claimed to be a mere spar there was clear intent to harm one another. With only their given word preventing either from aiming to kill which alone was not much of a safe guard in the end. Though there was little point to break such temporary promise now.

If there was reason to strike each other down then such conflict would have likely arisen far sooner. Though whatever was to come of this it was practice that had not been turned down. Any injuries received this day planned to be treated afterwards. An endeavor Fenris was certain the mage would prove useful for even if those wandering hands only touched upon his own flesh, just as the marked elf figured they might. Leaving the other to his own devices if the human could not be convinced to assist them both.

Yet further limitations were in place other than death. More so set upon the branded than the rogue as sharp words had demanded rather than request that he not use the oversized blade that was so often carried. And upon that same breath tones which practically forbid the usage of some of the mostly unknown abilities that arose from the ore which sang out beneath branching scars. Focus lying primarily on the off chance that a lyrium touched hand may find itself through the other’s body even if it were merely in false threat. And while such restrictions were understandable in their own ways it still drew a frown over the ghost’s features.

Such matters agreed upon none the less though nothing would truly keep the elf from tapping into that glowing ore for assistance. That smaller weaponry hefted easily within his grasp as but a moment was taken to adjust to it. Something far lighter than the usual blade yet he was no stranger to wielding something single handed. Reflective gaze flickered toward the sword for but a moment before returning to the current target. Bare feet shifting against the earth in an effort to bring him closer as steel is angled in an attempt to run it through the other elf’s thigh in hopes to hinder further movement.

Ya it’s cool man

Time spent within the company of the other two had grown tiresome fairly quickly. A chance turn of events Ivandriel had not seen coming nor did he much care for them although agreements were set into place. Help was to be offered on either side in their chosen paths that converged unknowingly to tangle one another within their webs. No such fondness was held for the tattooed elf or his human companion, tolerance felt among the three in order to see it all through to the end. With frustration the fact that it had only just begun resonated in a mind that cleared itself as booted feet carried the smaller elf over the grass. His bow rested against a tree to his flank, set aside in favor for the dagger that had been inherited that sat in his loose grip. Golden eyes eyed the warrior, not missing the frown that pulled against his lips nor the spark of ire that flickered within his gaze that tracked his movement just as easily. Words had already been spoken, rather curtly, before they found the small clearing amidst the trees and so Ivandriel stilled further vocalization for it would be wasted breath. Shoulders relaxed as he came to a stop, the white-haired elf watching closely yet the rogue would give him nothing.

It had been Ivandriel’s idea, and he intended to play the field as he always did. An energy coiled within him, languidly spreading throughout his body even as he remained complacent and wary of any telltale sign the warrior would move. It reminded Ivandriel of time spent early in the morning, his mother saying little and letting her actions speak for her as she coaxed him into tedious spars. They lacked a deadly edge, as did this one, though potential volatile nature left little room for carelessness in case this session of practicing turned sideways. Displeasure was evident in the way his gaze dropped to the shorter sword hefted in one hand, grip tightening before he moved with surprising swiftness. Ivandriel let out a gentle breath, lips pressed together and light flashed along the length of the blade as it cut through the air towards his leg. He aimed low, already hoping to debilitate the rogue but the leg was drawn back as soon as he realized what Fenris was attempting to do.

The dagger swung outwards, turned so that the flat of it would connect with the sword though Ivandriel did not wait to see if he halted the angled swipe before his body turned. A step was taken towards the other elf, fingers curling into a fist with rings presented on two of them that he sent arcing towards Fenris’ jaw.

No matter the attempts made it seemed that the rogue had caught on to the current plan of action, to strike low when the chance had seemingly provided itself. Though that limb shifts away nearly as soon as a blade reached out to it. Darting swiftly from the jab of weaponry and avoiding the damages that could have been inflicted upon it. And in its place came a refraction of light which caught the elf’s eyes if only for a moment. That glimmer shining off the other’s own blade as a dagger swept out to strike against the sword with enough power held behind quick motion to knock it off track.

While such misdirection was slight, it was still enough to allow the other his evasions as the sounding of weaponry moving against one another rose to the air. There would be another opportunity in time though before the warrior could bring the blade back to correct course and ready it once more, there is another shift to Ivandriel’s stance. One that does not go entirely unnoticed as his own figure began to shift in efforts to draw away from the other elf. Yet it is a movement done too late as that balled hand collides against the marked one’s features, those adorning rings offering a further spark of pain as they pinched against skin.

Ears flick back momentarily at the sudden mix of sensations that blossomed. A head forced to turn with the motion as a temporary loss of balance threatened to seize him. Thoughts rushing to catch up to what had just happened though such a stall only manages to settle in briefly before it can be shaken off and a mind allows itself to snap back to reality. Slow breath blows from the warrior’s lungs as a figure righted itself properly. It is not the blade that reaches this time though but the other hand which flattens and lashes out toward the other’s cheek.

He moved with poise, intention behind the steps that carried him closer to the rogue with the blade in his hand hefted to strike. Ivandriel only had to anticipate the movements, golden eyes dropping down briefly to track the pattern of bare feet as they stepped over the grass. The slightest tick did not go unnoticed, each twitch of muscling followed even if it was small. Even to the best trained eye one could not see everything, however there was the somewhat added advantage of the branded elf being more inclined to use larger weapons. It was seen in the wide arc of the sword, Ivandriel parrying it with a step forward as the targeted limb shifted backwards. The fist swung outwards with a swift strike, catching his chosen opponent upon the chin and casting his head to the side. White hair fell forward, though he did not fall as anticipated and in that there was disappointment. Amusement overrode it, however, the hit not entirely an honorable one though Ivandriel never cared much for honor. He had been taught to take advantage, although perhaps the display of fighting style would be his hubris.

The Hero watched as Fenris stumbled somewhat, gathering his wits about him as lips parted to release a slow breath of exasperation. Ivandriel waited for the blade to rise in retaliation, although with swiftness the other elf rushed forward with an outstretched hand lashing out. Little time was given to avoid the blow or lift an arm to block it, and the back of the offended party’s hand connected with his cheek. An ear twitched with the sound of it, Ivandriel’s head sent to the side this time as jaws parted and after a beat of silence a twisted smile found his lips. Indeed it was his hubris that would garner punishment, and the rogue let out a small laugh. ”I deserved that one,” he admitted, though without further word determination settled into place and the rogue’s body disappeared from sight with an intake of air. Carefully steps brought him around to the warrior’s back, mere seconds allowed before the dagger was carved through the space towards the expanse before him.
