magic mushrooms

You find yourself within the food tents, assaulted by a myriad of wonderful, mouth-watering smells. The Grand Tourney is large and after all the walking that you've done to get from one activity to the next you find yourself ready for your next meal. Sidling up to a stall that sells some enticingly good-looking stew, you only find it slightly strange how the merchant smiles at you as you exchange some money for your lunch. "Have a good day, ser." He winks, and you frown. But the stew smells good so you don't think too much of it, and by the time you tuck in, it tastes even better than you first thought it would.

Traveling could be quite dull, particularly because the information that the Imperial Chantry was interested in was quite dull. After all, one could only discover so much about Magisters and magic before they felt the need to roll their eyes and attempt to fall into a deep sleep. Nonetheless, being a cleric did come with its benefits. While nobody quite liked him- after all, being an Imperial cleric was quite the scandal outside of his homeland- he did get to travel often and learn quite a great deal. On occasion, he also got to see a few things that he might even label...interesting.

The Grand Tourney was something that he might label as such. Nevarra certainly had its array of interests- though, King Markas was quite the brute- and he thankfully looked ambiguous enough that one might even mistake him from being from the land. All it really took was changing his robes to make sure that nobody snapped at him.

Wandering throughout the food tents, he found himself quite interested immediately. With parents who had been liberati, he had never been exposed to luxuries and this had not changed much even when he had become part of the Chantry. The smells that lingered were mouth-watering, some foreign and others not. Coming up to a stew, Rilienus inspected it for just a moment before exchanging money for it. However, he could not prevent the frown that came to his face at the merchant's smile and wink.

Deciding not to think too much of it, he sits down and begins to eat. It is only after half the soup is gone that he pauses. While the soup tastes good, it comes with a peculiar feeling. Oh, he thinks, absently realizing that he probably should have considered things a bit more carefully. After all, the world is starting to look strange, though it is a bit hard to complain.

It came as no surprise that the one he traveled with would show refusal in being swayed from the path that had been set for himself. In truth it was expected, Asmodeus was hardly an agreeable man and yet despite the denial held upon another’s tongue it did not stop the elf from wishing to look into the whispers of some event happening within Nevarra’s walls. Not a very slight detour from where they currently walked but curiosity was enough to spur him on. For if nothing else perhaps there would be something or someone there that could provide information over things not already known over the goings on of the lands that still lay out of reach.

Any leads that could be followed over the corrupted lyrium’s spread or those which fit into the warrior’s own plans. Even if that meant traversing there alone, it would not be the first time. And while each had proven able to fend for themselves, with the behaviors that so oft rose from the mage Fenris could not help but to think trouble would find the other man more easily. Though whether it would or not was another matter entirely. Something he could find out whenever their paths crossed again for with or without Hawke there were things to take care of.

Yet distraction is found from his initial goal within the city as rather poor selection is made over what to do here. Suspicions had risen over the oddity of that merchant and yet no ill effects had been seen in another that had taken it. Though now all of that was gone as a mind lay addled beneath the fog provided by… something, whatever it was that had been bought. Thoughts unable to place the cause of this even as it was known to him. The word simply lost within the nothing as train of thought could not be kept and an odd feeling of bliss masked all else.

Stealing away the worries and unease that had once plagued his mind though with it went the purpose for being here. Everything currently lost beneath the haze as fixation takes hold and eyes linger upon the spaces before him, even as nothing truly rested there. Content to stare into the nothingness as it seemed to shift, at least until a figure came to cross the unspoken path. The air around the other distorting further and drawing attentions to it as temporary focus is found to chase after the other’s presence. One vaguely registered as another living creature within the area though of what nature was unknown.

Some form of curiosity pressed against the fog that hung over the elf though not yet enough to stir him into motion as gaze came to linger upon where the other had perched. Following the trails that seemed to spiral around the stranger until a body finally saw reason to move. Unsteady steps bringing him to sit near the other as a body practically slumped into the space beside him. A near wild look holding to the dilated gaze which peered toward the stranger, clearly unfocused as he seemed to look through the other at first before adjustment is made. Concentration attempted to be held upon the man he now tried to address though such a task was surprisingly difficult.

Other thoughts quick to fill the warrior’s mind as phrases though to start up only to find pause as they were lost beneath the rest. And such reflects within expression as a flash of confusion laces into his features only to fade before lyrics rise anew, “Do I know you from somewhere?” Or was this the first time he had seen this man? Honestly he wasn’t sure anymore. All he knew for certain was that he had definitely seen this guy at least once before. But maybe that once was from just a little bit ago, that brief passing? Whatever. Whoever this was maybe he held the answers the branded elf wasn’t certain he was looking for. Help fill in the blanks that littered his mind.
