It had begun with a woman. She had whispered against him. In the beginning, it had been because he was weak, lacking in every way that was proper. While there was no way to fix this fault, his heart had been cold. Concern about her opinions could not reach him and a deaf ear was all that listened to the words of the woman. Yet, he was blessed by the Maker and his fault had been cured. Nonetheless, this was good enough. He was expected to be better, to rise to the position that those who were like him held.

It was a dull dream. He held no wish to be like others. Rather, it was a far more satisfying dream to reach beyond and become better. After all, there was no better place for others than at his heel. However, such a dream was difficult, particularly when others saw him unworthy and weak.

Yet, he was deaf once more, uncaring even when blood had been spilled for a good cause. The mass whispered like the mindless animals they were, incapable of thinking. After all, they lacked a proper hand to guide them. However, word was poisonous and he found himself at a standstill.

Radonis would not allow such a poor reason to stop him. If he could not keep to the light, then he would keep to the darkness and make others bend there. It worked well enough and he was remembered, though not so much by name despite his knowledge that they held tales of him. Rather, his garden was. Why would it not? After all, the ice statues were so lovely, so...life-like, capturing everything down to the last tear. He did so hate when they screamed. Beauty was better captured in the picture of pleasure not terror.

Tonight, he held little mood for a garden though. Rather, Radonis wished to travel, to explore and behold the secrets that the darkness wished to keep. Going beyond the borders he kept to, he traversed into the danger of civilization.
As of late the Magisterium had been growing agitated. Its attention had been cast to several points of the map, the most noticeable being to Nevarra. On one hand, this was a good thing. As long as the Magisterium was distracted, Radonis would be able to extend his reach to more important matters, such as the Venatori. After all, the cult appeared to be growing more active as of late, attempting to create trouble that lasted beyond the South. On the other hand, the Magisterium was also quite good at creating trouble itself and their discussions in regards to King Markus were proof of this. In the name of traditionalism they seemed to be adamant on creating another war.

How...distasteful. The Imperial Archon found himself tempted to intervene, but he was no fool. As much as people enjoyed the thought that the position of Archon came with unlimited power, this was far from the truth. It was a position that required a steady hand a mind that was good with politics. After all, there was the unspoken word of the public that kept the Archon in check. If one wished to be Archon, then they best consider how much they enjoyed living.

At the same time, he best consider all options before he actually used the power he possessed. Swaying the Magisterium to fix the mess was always another option. If he could not do that, then he could always allow an outside power to do so.

He did detest how much his schedule seemed to be filled with meetings with Magisters over decisions that, in his own mind, seemed to have easy answers. After all, not going to war when you were already in one seemed logical enough. Perhaps he just needed a different point of view.

Thankfully, he was going to gain just that today.

His appointment with Magister Vadior was coming close. Quietly, Radonis allowed the servants to set the room, drinks and food being set as the Archon indulged himself in a book.

Sooo, I would love to see more nobility on the site :D It would make for some great drama between royals and all that jazz. As such, I took the time to make up a group wanted ad for important figures :3

Ferelden

We all know Ferelden quite well. Among the countries of Thedas, it has been united for the shortest amount of time, leading to the inevitable conclusion that most if not all alliances have likely not been in existence for long periods of time. It is notably more "casual" in its manner when compared to other kingdoms (Ferelden notably lacks a lot of the typical mannerisms that can be found in Northern kingdoms). It is well known for its poor relationship with Orlais and it is meant to have had- though this is not broadcast across the kingdom- rather...sketch dealings with Tevinter during the Fifth Blight due to Loghain (aka a lot of elves got sold into slavery because of him).

WANTED PEEPS

Alistair Theirin: Currently king of Ferelden, Alistair was made king due to the Warden's actions. Despite his rightful claim to the throne, Alistair seems to both be knowing and not what he is doing. Is ruling alone.

Teagan Guerrin: Our poorly aged Arl of Redcliffe. He seems to have gotten a bit grumpy as well, but what can you expect when Magisters are starting to kick you out of your home as well?

Orlais

Orlais is pretty much the current super power of Thedas. However, it is a title that is hesitantly kept as Orlais currently suffers from a great amount of internal fighting, fighting which is arguably perpetuated by the Orlesian belief in "The Game."

WANTED PEEPS

Celene Valmont I: Empress of Orlais. Basically, she's the frostiest bitch. Celene's rule has largely been focused on peace, something which has not been entirely popular since some view it as turning one's back on the ways of Orlais' imperialist days. However, while she does not show it, Celene is a fairly ruthless person, willing to make high stakes for what she views as the greater good. Unfortunately, this has arguably cost her her personal happiness in the past.

Gaspard de Chalons: The Grand Duke (aka a fancy title that basically states he didn't get the crown). Is currently in the middle of a civil war with Celene, though it has been gaining....complications as of late. While Gaspard is not entirely lacking in talent in The Game, he has proven to be a more blunt individual who prefers the sword to the quill.

Florianne de Chalons: Grand Duchess. Gaspard's sister and a member of the Venatori.

Briala: Celene's ex-lover. Briala possesses power within the Orlesian court due to her connections among the elves who operate akin to spies.

Vivienne: Currently, Vivienne is the Enchanter of the Imperial Court of Orlais. She stands out due to the fact that she has managed to make power from this position, which has formerly served as little more than a title with little power in the past. In many ways, she is the exception to the rule of the prejudice that mages often find themselves stuck with and enjoys a certain amount of privilege and respect...for a Southern mage.

Morrigan: Arguably the most well known of the still living Witch of the Wilds, Morrigan was once a companion to the Warden. Since then, she has moved up in the world and become an influential, but mysterious figure known only as the Arcane Advisor to the Imperial Court of Orlais, serving as an individual who satisfies the Empress' curiosity in the occult. Chances are that the years have either made her attitude worse or better.

Free Marches

The Free Marches are a group of city states that, from what we have seen thus far, all operate a bit differently. Parts of the Free Marches appear to act within monarchies whereas others work within different systems.

WANTED PEEPS

Sebastian Vael: Prince of Starkhaven. Sebastian would have reclaimed his title after the events of Dragon Age 2. Chances are that the manner in which he reacted to Hawke afterwards might have been positive since Sebastian stayed afterwards to help with the fight. How things are no are rather iffy considering Sebastian's personality.

Antiva

So, Antiva has odd politics. First off, they have a royal family. However, their royalty possesses little to no power. In fact, they pretty much have no army. Instead, the real power lies within the hands of a dozen merchant princes. Moreover, the Antivan Crows give Antiva a powerful enough reputation that they do no need to fear invasion.

WANTED PEEPS

King Natale/King Fulgeno II: It is not made entirely clear which one of these two is the current king of Antiva. Natale is meant to have been reigning in 9:28 Dragon. However, Fulgeno also ruled during Dragon and was the one who appointed Josephine as ambassador to Celene. So, I'll leave it up to your discretion.

Merchant Lords: These are never named in the game. Basically, these are individuals who are heads of companies or banks and are all in constant competition with each other. They are not, of course, actual royalty. Their power lies in money ;P

Antiva Crows: Would be nice to see some Crows :P

Nevarra

Nevarra was formerly a city state that was part of the Free Marches. However, it eventually broke off when it became large enough and formed its own proper nation. For several generations it has been ruled by the Pentaghasts. The nation is currently in on and off aggressions with Tevinter.

Nevarra is meant to be in a rather difficult situation as it is dealing with a king who is likely going to die any day now. Meanwhile, Markus' family is meant to have already begun fighting for the throne and there are meant to be others who think that the line should move on from the Pentaghast line.

WANTED PEEPS

King Markus Pentaghast: Markus Pentaghast is described as an aging king. While his age is never given, it is made clear that he has become old enough that pretty much everybody around him is convinced that he is going to die any day now. It is also left rather obscure in the game as to whether he is losing his sanity. After all, this guy IS starting fights with Tevinter (that and Josephine trusts an alliance with Tevinter more than one with him lmao)

Pentaghasts: Lmao there are like...a million Pentaghasts technically. Having a few around might be nice, whether it be to fight dragons or argue over a throne that is currently occupied.
Radonis had directed his route from the North towards Orlais. Looking for some amount of relief, he had turned to the rather fallacious land. It had been far closer than anything closer to home, though the fact that traveling southward would lengthen his travels home did not go beyond him. It was a move that had annoyed Flavius, something that no doubt had more to do with the Orlesians themselves than a few more nights of travel. That, and the rather terrible state the South was in, one that was merely perpetuated by Orlais' love for childish games of murder and spite. It was an irritation that he could understand on some level.

Still, it was better than going towards lands that were more likely to recognize him and be hostile as a result. After all, the mere culture of Orlais offered more protection against his identity than anywhere in the North did. As much as he might mock their practices, they were certainly useful tools.

As midday came, the two stopped in a rather small city. Going their separate ways for the moment, the Archon began to pursue the market. There was little doubt in his mind that they would need to resupply. If there was any information to be gathered, Flavius could handle such a task and tell him it later. He trusted the other enough to know what may or may not need to be done.

Mindlessly, he began to wander the market, looking for a merchant that sold what he needed.

The letter is delivered by an unassuming raven. Overall, it appears to be little to be a normal letter. However, a keen eye will be able to tell that the material is far too expensive to have come from anyone but an individual with some amount of wealth. Moreover, the parchment is clearly made in a manner different than Ferelden methods. Whoever has sent this is foreign and wealthy.

I understand why the land might appear to be unclaimed. The land that has been taken is part of the Silent Plains which have been inhospitable since the First Blight due to the damage done to them at the time. As a result, they are less unclaimed, but have long ago been deemed too difficult for a village or city to be established within. For this reason, the Magisterium will be dubious about the claims in regards to the Avvar's intentions, as they are sitting on our borders.

While your offer to monitor them is appreciated, I must question whether this will actually solve the problem. Those within the Magisterium who hold a problem with their presence complain for several reasons. The greatest concerns are how this might affect travel, the fact they are foreigners conquering a large piece of land, and whether they are little more than bandits by another name.

To expand on the matter, the Tevinter Imperium has come to have increasingly poor travel over the past year, particularly around our borders. There are several reasons which are better fit to be explained in a separate letter. Those who worry about travel merely worry about the borders becoming far more difficult to travel through. It is a natural concern, as those of lesser wealth already have difficulty traveling through our borders. I doubt I need to explain the second matter in great detail. Even those who hold little opinion on the subject, do not enjoy the thought of foreigners conquering a piece of our land. It rings of Orlais' imperialist days and it does not help that many Tevene are wary of outsiders.

The third matter was addressed by you. I imagine that the offer to monitor the clan will calm some within the Magisterium; however, it will likely come with the price of stirring unrest within others. As you might imagine, some would not like the idea of the Inquisition being so visibly close to Tevinter.

Despite these obstacles, I believe that we might be able to come to a solution that will satisfy both the Inquisition and the Imperium.
