He could see the flicker of annoyance within her gaze as she considered the words, a challenge spoken from either side that they both waited for the other to rise to. It became a simple matter of calculating how much time Everett had before the elf or the Antivan woman would come find him and if it would be enough to show this noblewoman just what he meant. The desire remained, stifled if only to prolong the inevitable parting between the two but it did not ebb away from a body that readily sank into it. Just as it lowered between her legs so his mouth could fit itself against hers and steal a brief moment of pleasurable contact. Forward action caught her off guard at first, muscles tensing before they relaxed against the touch and the kiss was returned with ease. Everett pulled back, not moments after offering a grin in response to the taunting words that labeled him as tame.
It was a game she wished to play, the two in the midst of it sizing one another up with each breath and each action but the pirate was not keen on giving in so easily. In a way he was testing the waters, seeing if she would be worth the effort to take point.
Lynn wanted him to prove it, slender legs rising to brace around his waist and Everett allowed himself to be pulled even closer if it was at all possible to do so. He could feel the warmth against him, hands still pinning her arms above her head as she continued her goading challenge. Everett tilted his head and released one of her hands if only to tangle it in her hair and wrench her head to the side, pinning it back against the couch. It stretched the length of skin for easier access, Everett lowering his mouth to plant gentle kisses along it. Down to her collarbone and there he stopped, pulling back to peer upon her as his face hovered inches from her own. ”You haven’t given me any reason to believe you are not some delicate and fragile noblewoman,” he murmured, returning to what he had been doing only this time with teeth grazing lightly along the skin. ”Maybe I don’t want to break you.” His breath ghosted along her neck, fingers still curled tightly into her dark hair until he released it without warning. The same hand caressed her cheek, thumb trailing along the bone as he considered her.
In truth Lynn had displayed a decent amount of strength already, but there was no fun to be had in relenting on that front. So he would play the game, for however long it would last. ”Make me believe you are not fragile, Lynn.”
